With China becoming the second largest economy in the world,China's opening has reached an unprecedented breadth and depth.In light of the situation,exchange and cooperation with foreign countries in education field has been dramatically increased.Cooperation between universities has become the main part of communication between China and foreign countries.As a consequence,there are more and more international meetings in universities and interpreter's role has gained more recognition.In universities,the interpretation work are always taken by English professors or staff engaged in foreign affairs instead of professional interpreters.Their knowledge of China's policy,interpreting ability and manner of behavior represent the image of the university and even China.Therefore it's an important work to analyze the difficulties of interpretation in university foreign affairs,to study and solve the problems that are likely to happen and to encourage foreign affairs personnel to develop their interpretation ability in professional way.The paper consists of five parts.Chapter one is the introduction of the task,which briefly introduces the background,features and requirements of the job.The second chapter is interpreting process including pre-task preparation,interpreting process and post-task evaluation.The third chapter is the main part of this paper and the author analyze the cases in aspects of Interpretive Theory,translation skills,Chinese culture-loaded words,translation of place names and cross-culture communication awareness.The fourth chapter is the problems and solution,which showcases the problems in this interpretation and the way to avoid them.The last chapter is the conclusion.The author suggests what makes a qualified interpreter in terms of knowledge reserve,practice of Interpretive Theory,energy allocation and pre-task preparation.At last the author emphasize that university foreign affairs personnel should pay attention to switching roles in order to meet the requirements of professional interpreters.
