A Report On The Translation Of The Theory And Practice Of Leadership(Excerpts)

This report is for the segment translation of the first chapter of The Theory and Practice of Leadership,as entrusted by Guangdong Youth Vocational College.The translation will be incorporated into Understanding the Theory and Practice of Leadership for college students as teaching materials.The Theory and Practice of Leadership,written by Roger Gill is developed o n six main themes,with many practical examples and data presented.In this book,the essence and significance of leadership has been analyzed and clarified;various problems about leadership have been exposed;opinions and theories on how to solve these problems have been provided.Therefore,for both experts studying leadership science and managers in enterprises,this book is very enlightening,instructive,practical and feasible.With the development of leadership science and an increasing demand for such knowledge domestically,the author considers it necessary to translate the related texts.This report focuses on the whole translation process.The essence is to apply the Skopos theory to the translation of the leadership text.Firstly,after the adequate preparations before the translation,the translator discovers that many glossaries and diagrams have been presented in the source text.By referring to the translation tools,the translator has established a small text corpus for leadership.Then,under the guidance of the Skopos theory and its principles,three fundamental translation strategies have been developed,to help solve the difficulties in the translation process.The purpose of this report is to summarize and review the translational practice of leadership science,so that the translator would know better and get progress.What‘s more,on the one hand,through this practice,the writer hopes to improve translation skills,and discusses the translation strategies for leadership-related materials by combining translation theories.On the other hand,it is expected that this report will provide more references for the translation in leadership area,and benefit the translation and introduction to foreign leadership science works.
