The rapid development of society and the dramatic growth of globalization,foreign language learning and international exchange are becoming an indispensable factor in run-ning the international cooperative education.At the same time,the internationalized IELTS test has become a standard for measuring learners’ English proficiency.This requires inter-national cooperative education should emphasize the content of IELTS test content in Eng-lish teaching.Due to the difficulty of the content of the IELTS test,learners face the pres-sure of English learning,resulting in a corresponding English learning anxiety.Such anxie-ty affects not only the student’s IELTS test results,but also the students’ interest in learning English.Anxiety may even affect the student’s learning in other subjects and his or her own physical condition.This article studies the English learning anxiety caused by the IELTS test,analyzes the reasons for its occurrence,and proposes corresponding teaching strate-gies to alleviate the students’ anxiety in English learning.Based on Horwitz et al.’s Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale(FLCAS)con-tent,this article has adjusted and supplemented according to the actual situation of the study subjects.As a questionnaire for this study,263 students from International Tourism College of Hainan University who have taken part in the IELTS exam are the research ob-jects.Through questionnaire collection and data statistics,the quantitative percentage anal-ysis of students’ English learning anxiety and characteristics will be conducted from the aspects of students’ classroom performance,communication situation,and other people’s evaluation.The results show that the anxiety of English learning for students from International Tourism College of Hainan University due to the IELTS test is mainly reflected in the fear of Communication,test anxiety and negative evaluation anxiety.The main causes include the poor language use ability of students and the current Chinese test system.It also results from the social competition,overly high psychological expectation,pressure from others and exams,and inappropriate teaching methods.Based on this,this paper proposes that teachers should guide students in participating in cooperative learning and improve class-room atmosphere,and protect students’ self-esteem and self-confidence.Moreover,teach-ers should apply a reasonable teaching strategy and psychological diversion of students to ease their English learning anxiety.
