Before liberation, there were a lot of prostitutes in Kunming, which rested during the day and worked at night, and affected seriously the social atmosphere. Before and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the countries began to ban prostitution.Kunming is to take part in the tide of prostitution at the background.Kunming municipal government first investigated the basic situation of prostitutes before eradicating prostitutes, including their number and main activities, which were written mainly in the first chapter. The second is the bans on prostitutes, which mainly adopted the methods of taking shelter and attacking both sides,as well as the punishment of the brothel owners and the harsh punishment of local bullies. The content is one of the main points in this paper and is discussed in detail in chapter two.The prostitutes were unified to the workhouse, where they can get not only the most basic life safeguard, also were asked to learn all kinds of policy documents and grasp the simple production skills,in order to reach own purpose that they can live by themselves. The narration of relevant content is arranged in chapter three, which is also the main part of the thesis. The fourth chapter is about the evaluation and reflection of Kunming's abolishment movement about prostitutes in the early years, including the results of the work and the lessons learned. The eradicating prostitutes movement dominated by Kunming municipal government in the early years of the founding of The People's Republic of China can be said to be a success, and many aspects are worth to work and study in the future. However, because of the time background restrictions, there are also some deficiencies which needs to be gradually perfected day by day.
