Scholars that lived in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty had different attitudes towards the dynasty alternation from Ming to Qing.Yi Xueshi was the one who had lived both in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty for 41 years respectively. Therefore,he was known as "half Ming and half Qing" people.Without exception, his behaviors and thoughts were the same.Yi Xueshi was full of hatred for the destruction of Ming Dynasty. When he faced with the hardships and difficulties of the life during the wars between Ming and Qing Dynasties,he felt helpless. In the former,he was rejected to the conquest of Qing Dynasty. However, with the enhancement of the reign of Qing Dynasty, the society condition began to represent stable,Yi Xueshi began to change his attitudes towards Qing Dynasty. The paper is based on the basic datum of the Collected Works of XiYa and The Yi Family Tree, and it is divided into four parts. The first chapter mainly introduces the background of southern Jiangxi during the late Ming and early Qing dynasty.During the time of late Ming and early Qing, there were various kinds of insurrections in southern Jiangxi, and the Anti-Ming wars led the bandits spreading abroad, which seriously affected the production and living of the people of Gannan. The Ming Dynasty had taken various measures to prevent these wars, but it did not work. After Qing troops took over the Shanhai Pass,as the main position of the Southern Ming,Ganzhou lost a large number of population owing to the battles for the defence.“The Revolt of the Three Feudatories” beyond all doubt was another disaster for the broken society of southern Jiangxi. As a result,in the early Qing Dynasty, local authorities had launched many policies to ensure the recovery and development of Ganzhou society. The second chapter researches the growth experiences and family of Yi Xueshhi.According to understanding its growing environment,it can be a promotion of an in-depth perception of his behaviors and thoughts. While the discussions of the mentoring relationship that provide a possibility to make more breakthroughs on the understanding of his academic sources and text meanings. In addition,he had madegreat achievements in economy and culture, which made him famous in the county of Yudu. However, there were disputes in the development process of the Yi branches. The third chapter introduces the interactions between Yi Xueshi and local society. He made friends widely and met with people of different identities such as Ming survivors and local officials. He mended the ferry points and built towers in the local areas for the convenience of common people. He was not only ready to do charity, but also revitalized local culture by better playing his strengths on literature.By studying the interactions between Yi Xueshi and local society,we can know more about the thoughts changing process and a more real life of Yi Xueshi in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty.According to studying Yi Xueshi,I hope we can understand more profound about the social condition in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty. The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the works of Yi Xueshi's County Annals of Yudu and Kangxi Ganzhou Chronicle, which gives a clear understanding of the theories of him.In the meantime, this paper puts emphasis on the analyses of the article of Summary of Ganzhou to highlight his identity of Ming Dynasty survivor. After Yi Xueshi obtained the identity of Ju-ren,his road of imperial examination was blocked, but he stood by himself. He refused to serve Qing Dynasty, but wrote books.Consequently,he left quantities of precious texts for later generations. The research on Yi Xueshi means more than a character study added. What I hope is that we can see the whole society condition of southern Jiangxi, and then get more understanding on that period of history,so that it can deepen our understanding on the thoughts and behaviors of adherents of a former dynasty.Eventually,I hope my research can add a hint of glory to the study of adherents.
