This study aimed to examine the level of marriage burnout among married people across the country. In this paper, the author discussed the formation of marriage burnout in part 1 and the influence of marriage burnout in part 2,and then proposed two moderated mediation models.Part 1: This research aimed to probe into the effect of neuroticism on marriage burnout among married people in China. The study hypothesized that neuroticism predicted marital burnout through irrational beliefs as a mediation variable, and the dyadic coping should have a moderating effect on this mediation. This questionnaire survey was conducted by providing the NEO-FFI personality scale, the Irrational Belief Scale(IBS),the Couple Burnout Measure(CBM)and the Dyadic Coping Inventory(DCI)for 793 married people all over the country. The result confirmed the hypotheses : neurotic personality positively predicted marriage burnout in Chinese people through irrational beliefs, and the positive dyadic coping moderated the mediation of irrational beliefs between neuroticism and marital burnout, whereas no moderating effect of the negative dyadic coping was found. The effect of neuroticism on marital burnout was a moderated mediating effect.Part 2: This research was carried out to explore the effect of marriage burnout on divorce intention. The study supposed that marital burnout predicted divorce intention through marriage satisfaction as a mediation variable, and the number of children played a moderating effect on this mediation.A total of 760 married persons across the country were investigated by the Couple Burnout Measure(CBM),the Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale(KMSS),the Webster Divorce Intention Questionnaire and the children's number questionnaire. As a result, the hypotheses were confirmed: the marriage burnout predicted divorce intention through marital satisfaction as a mediation variable, and the number of children moderated the mediating effect of marital satisfaction between marital burnout and divorce intention. The influence of marital burnout on divorce intention was a moderated mediatingeffect. In addition, there was a significant difference in the level of marital burnout between men and women, and residence places also affected the level of marital burnout. The level of female marital burnout was significantly higher than that of male. The level of marital burnout among rural residents was significantly higher than that of urban residents.
