The Development Of Naturalistic Mentalizing Questionnaire Of Adult

Bateman and Fonagy define mentalizing as“The mental process by which an individual implicitly and explicitly interprets the actions of himself or herself and others as meaningful on the basis of intentional mental states such as personal desires,needs,feelings,beliefs,and reasons." With attention to mental health,more and more researchers will be looking to invest in research mentalizing.There are many findings about mentalizing in Western countries,but in China,the research has only just begun,very few empirical research,no research tools.This research attempt to develop a scientific and standardized measurement tools of mentalizing,in favour of other researchers to carry out studies.This research is mainly concerned with college students(undergraduate and graduate)studies,surveyed more than 3,800 employees in total include undergraduate and graduate students and some teachers.The entire study is divided into five steps.Because this study is video-based measurement,so the first step was filtered the video.The second step was subjects 'evaluation of filtered video and collected opening answers.The third step was that experts processed answers form the opening questionnaire and written answers.The fourth step was to survey the initial questionnaire,identifies and resolves issues.The fifth step was to conduct a massive official surveying,analyse questionnaires,form an official questionnaire.The main results of the study are as follows:(1)Developed the Naturalistic Mentalizing Questionnaire of adult.This questionnaire contained 48 items.It contained 4 dimensions,including affect recognition?affect attribution?cognition recognition?cognition attribution.This questionnaire discriminated 4 characteristics about mentalizing,including no mentalizing?less mentalizing?accurate mentalizing?exceeding mentalizing.(2)The Naturalistic Mentalizing Questionnaire of adult has acceptable validity and reliability.Reliability of questionnaire include internal consistency reliability,and test-retest reliability.Validity of questionnaire include content validity,construct validity and criterion validity.(3)The Naturalistic Mentalizing Questionnaire of adult is more in keeping with Chinese cultural background.It overcame the shortcomings of existing measurement tools,applicable to adult mental health of exploratory study.(4)The average score of questionnaire is 22.94 points(The total score is 48 points).The minimum score is 9 points,the highest score is 38 points.From high to low scores in four dimension is affect recognition(6.61 points)?affect attribution(6.15 points)?cognition recognition(5.30 points)?cognition attribution(4.87 points).(5)Early traumatic experience and mentalizing'cores have high negative correlation.Adult levels of mentalizing and psychological health is significantly positively correlated.
