| Careerist orientation is defined as the propensity to pursue career advancement through non-performance-based means. Careerist orientation questionnaire aims to explore the construction of the careerist orientation and analysis the current situation of the employees’ careerist orientation in the content of Chinese culture. Comprehensively adopting the methods of The research face-to-face interview, exploratory factor analysis and verified factor analysis, the research gets such results as below:(1) Careerist Orientation Questionnaire has 5 dimensionalities altogether 18 items in total, respectively interpersonal relationship, disloyalty to the employers, inconformity between career objection and the interest of the organization, impression management and deceitful manoeuvre.(2) This questionnaire has a relatively good reliability and validity. The total reliability is up to 0.813, with the internal consistency coefficient of every dimension is above 0.57. As to the construct validity, through exploratory factor analysis, these 5 factors can explain 57.57% of variance. In the report of confirmatory factor analysis, the comparative fit indexes are:X2/df=1.877, GFI=0.910, TLI=0.865, CFI=0.890 and IFI=0.893, RMR=.0.056, RMSEA=0.058. The model is fit. The relevance with Machiavelli’s personality scale is between 0.33 to 0.49, which is in line with the requirement of criterion validity.(3) On the whole view of the careerist orientation, the interpersonal relationship scores firstly, secondly impression management, thirdly disloyalty to the employers, fourthly inconformity between career objection and the interest of the organization, lastly deceitful manoeuvre. When it comes to the demography variables, the score of careerist orientation shows prominent differences, especially, the score of top managers is higher than that of middle and lower managers.(4) As to every dimensions, the careerist orientation exists no remarkable differences in education background, marriage situation and the current career, while it appears remarkable differences in such demography variables as gender, age, years of working, the nature and the position of the organization. |
