A Report On The Translation Of Hes Documents Based On Skopos Theory

With the continuous advancement of China's industrialization process,the safety of employees in production has aroused widespread concern in society.The HES(health,environment and safety)management system is a management tool developed by companies to mitigate and eliminate health,environmental and safety risks that may occur in the oil industry.It aims to protect employees' personal safety and ecological environment which plays an important role in guiding safe production.However,the existing HES system in China is not mature yet.By translating such texts accurately,advanced HES management system is introduced to provide guidance for joint venture projects and guarantee on safe production.This translation practice report is based on the HES documents translated by the author during the internship of Shandong Iron & Steel Group.Under the guidance of the three principles of Skopos Theory,this report starts with the language features of the HES documents.In addition,translation methods such as word order adjustment,addition,omission,and long sentence separation are applied to the translation of documents.This report attempts to verify that Skopos Theory can effectively guide the translation of the HES documents,making it accurate,concise,and easy to understand.It is hoped to facilitate the correct and efficient use of the equipment by the operator and the inspection of operating practices,which may provide a solution to the localization of HES documents.
