Facing with the increasing international status of China and fiercely competition in international trade, business exchange between China and western countries is growing, and overseas market is in need of more and more domestic goods and related services. Some international programs have to be procured in the form of Bidding Documents. However, the international Bidding Documents are generally compiled in English, thus the first step towards a successful bid is to fully understand the conditions and clauses of Bidding Documents,E-C translation of Bidding Documents has to deserve much more attention and study. This report is based on translation of Bidding Documents assigned to the author who has ever been an intern in Inspur for three months. In this report, the author probes into translation practice under the framework of Skopos theory.Unlike other translation theory,Skopos theory focuses on function-oriented approaches, and views that translation purpose determines translation methods, with consideration of translation action. The report contains five chapters, namely, background of the project, features of Bidding Documents,Skopos theory, application of Skopos theory to translation of Bidding Documents and conclusion.Analysis of translation of Bidding Documents is conducted from two aspects in this report, namely, translation from the lexical and syntactic aspects. From the lexical aspect, the author discusses translation of modal verbs, archaic words and terminology, and from the syntactic aspect the author discusses translation of long sentences, passive voice and idiomatic structure, and analyzes how Skopos theory is applied in practice. It is hoped that this report could provide help for people who will undertake translation of the same kind of text and be a reference to deal with difficulties in the future.
