A Report On Interpreting For Piano Lecture From The Perspective Of The Interpretive Theory

The Ordos piano music festival invited the Italian piano master Giuseppe Dwarstedo to make a lecture on piano techniques on August 9^th 2018.The lecture lasted for nearly an hour.During the lecture,the author provided the consecutive interpreting service mainly with English-Chinese interpreting and a little Chinese-English interpreting in question-answer part.This report describes the process of interpreting.Giuseppe Dwarstedo introduced his theories to the audience,which consists of three parts,and he made the demonstration and answered questions from the audience.Under the allowance of the client,the author has recorded the whole lecture.Then she made a transcript to transfer the record into text and analyzed it in this report from the perspective of the Interpretive Theory.In the report,the author uses the Interpretive Theory to analyze the difficulties during this consecutive interpreting.As for the comprehension,there are difficulties in speaker’s accent,proper nouns,the lexical ambiguity,long sentences and specialized knowledge;as for the difficulties in deverbalization,there are the meaning contraction and the personal pronoun;and the difficulties in reproduction including rare expression,the expression collocation,and pronoun reference.The author listed corresponding solutions to each of the difficulties including communicating with the speaker,amplification,splitting,omission and making supplement to the pronoun.The author uses the Interpretive Theory to classify the difficulties and analyze its causes and find out the solutions to overcome the difficulties.So the author hopes that the report can provide help for the lecture consecutive interpreting.
