| Studies on translation have turned from semantic,to cultural in the last century and to interdisciplinary probing most recently,as it is the case with the quantum theory that offers a profound insight into the physical world,which has been widely used in interdisciplinary research on such humanities and social sciences as philosophy,consciousness,linguistics,literature and cross-cultural communication that translation bears inherence in.Thus an attempt is made in this thesis to apply the quantum entanglement to translation studies,with the aim of scientifically expounding the process of translation.On the basis of the concept of quantum entanglement and its application—quantum teleportation,the thesis simulates cultural teleportation between Chinese and Western cultures to the quantum teleportation,in an attempt to study on the significant role of translation and its operational mechanism through examples at three levels from cultural message transmission to address the main concerns of the thesis: the entanglement of cultural messons,messon-blocks as well as messon-clusters.The analysis of the theory and practice both confirm the explanatory and reasonable analogy and the prominent role of translation in cultural teleportation.The core feature of quantum entanglement—no matter how far apart the two particles are,their states are affected and discerned by the other one—seems like no matter howdistant the two language cultures are,they can communicate with each other through translation.Therefore,the author believes that the translator must or can find or create an expression in the target language with the same or similar meaning in the source language to achieve the cultural teleportation based on the entanglement of Chinese and Western cultures. |
