Theme Expression In Character Documentary Creation

Character documentaries are documentaries that present the real life of characters through objective and real records of people.Through personal words and deeds,it reveals the basic living conditions and practical problems of social groups hidden behind individuals,thus showing the significance of the characters’ lives and the value of their existence.From a microscopic point of view,character documentaries refer to documentaries that are related to individual characters and show their personalities and circumstances.From a macro point of view,character documentaries refer to documentaries concerning the expression of human spirit under the framework of " human" in society.The theme expression of the documentary is produced and developed along with the documentary.Although thematic expression is a broad concept,it is confined to a visible range in the creation process of character documentaries.From the known subject characters,to the numerous and complicated concrete plots,to the basic audio-visual arts,are all elements related to the theme expression.Based on the relevant elements of theme expression,guided by theory and taking my graduation work " Life" as practice,this paper analyzes the theme expression in the creation of character documentaries through the combination of theory and practice,aiming at providing a reference possibility for the actual creation of character documentaries.This article will discuss from the following aspects:First,from the angle of the establishment of theme expression,it is a prerequisite to discuss the establishment of theme by selecting theme and choosing the mode of creating theme.Second,starting with the media of thematic expression,through the analysis of the characters,plot and narrator,it is necessary to discuss the effect and influence of thematic expression media on it.Third,as an audio-visual art,film and television cannot be separated from the framework of audio-visual elements.From the perspective of audio-visual,it is analyzed that audio-visual means to effectively deepen the theme are auxiliary conditions for theme expression.
