A Practice Report On Liaison Interpreting For A CMMI 3 Evaluation

In order to upgrade the management system and the real efficiency of enterprises,enterprise managers will often apply the Capability Maturity Model Integration evaluation of the entire competency.This report is based on the author’s interpreting practice of the Capability Maturity Model Integration level 3 evaluation of Shanghai Bochi Information Technology Co.,Ltd.and Shanghai Hanzhiyou Information Technology Co.,Ltd..In this paper,the author analyzes the difficulties,deficiencies and their causes during this interpreting practice,and summarizes the common problems that interpreters often encounter in liaison interpretation,and seek solutions to these problems.This report mainly expounds the challenges,deficiencies and corresponding solutions in this liaison interpretation practice.Based on her interpretation practice,the author summarized three major challenges in the process of this interpretation:missing of information,misinterpretation and too many filler words.The fluency and the quality of the interpretation will be badly affected if these challenges did not handle properly.Next,the author explores the basic strategies for improving the quality of interpretation: rationally refines the source language through skillful addition and omission;further inquiries to the speaker to improve the accuracy of the interpretation.By using these strategies,the interpreter will be more proficient in the process of interpretation,improving the quality of interpretation.In this paper the author will use plenty examples to elaborate her points.And the author hopes this report can not only help her in improving the interpreting performance but also provide experience and knowledge in liaison interpreting for the benefit of theinterpretation community.
