Reading strategy teaching runs through senior high school English teaching.Accordance with the requirements of the new curriculum standard and the test result,most of the teachers can feel the lack of English reading strategies can greatly affect the quality of reading,but in the actual reading teaching,the cultivation of English reading strategies is minimal,causing many high school students just to recite the meaning and usage of words.In the actual reading activity,it is difficult for students to finish reading tasks smoothly within the prescribed period of time.In this way,students lose their interest and enthusiasm in English learning.Since problem learning tool list(PLTL)was proposed by professor Han Lifu in 2012,the domestic research on PLTL has been rare,so the research of PLTL in high school English reading teaching has not been done so far.The purpose of this research is to figure out students' English reading strategies,and explore whether problem learning tool list can cultivate students' English reading strategies.The research adopts the experimental research.The research questions are as follows:1.Before the application of PLTL,what is the use of English reading strategies for Senior Two students? 2.Can the application of problem learning tool list cultivate students' English reading strategies? Theresearch uses the problem learning tool list developed by Professor Han Lifu.The 101 participants in this research come from two classes of Senior Two,Wuhai No.10 Middle School.It was based on experimental research and supplemented by tests,questionnaires and interviews.The main experimental instruments include two reading tests,two questionnaires,a individual interview with 10 students.The entire research lasted for 20 teaching weeks.In the first week,the pre-questionnaire was distributed and collected to figure out the use of English reading strategies of the students;a pre-test was held to collect the data of reading achievements.At the 20 th week,the author conducted a post-test of reading ability and a questionnaire on the use of English reading strategies for the second time.The research uses the questionnaire of English reading strategies designed by Xia Ganlin.In this research,the results were descriptively analyzed by using SPSS25.0 software.The author discussed the interviews.At the beginning of the research,the English reading strategies(discourse function strategy,thematic generalization strategy,discourse structure strategy and discourse meaning strategy)of Senior Two students in Wuhai No.10 Middle School were weak as a whole.After 20-week experimental teaching,there was a significant improvement in English reading strategies(p<0.05).Additionally,after applying problem learning tool list,students' interest in English have been improved.
