Research On Liu Zai’s Man Tang Collected Works

Liu Zai was an important literatus in Southern Song Dynasty.After being an officer in states and counties for ten more years,he was disappointed with the national affairs,so he returned home under the excuse of illness.After returning home,Liu Zai not only read books and wrote articles,he also concerned with the livings of local people,and opened the bureau of porridge for three times in famine.The academic world also focus on his relief efforts,and ignore Liu Zai’s literary achievement.In fact,Liu Zai plays an important role in the history of Southern Song literature.Liu Zai love reading a lot,and he wrote mang books,now we could only see “Man Tang Collected Works”and ”Jinkou Qijiuzhuan”.“Man Tang Collected Works” contains more than one thousand works of Liu Zai,the number is very large,the range of themes is also very wide,so we can see the features of Liu Zai’s works through this collected works.In this essay,we’ll use the version of JiaYeTang mainly,the conclusion is established in detailed anaiysis.We’ll have four chapters in this essay.In chapter one,Liu Zai’s life will be discussed.At first,we’ll tease out Liu Zai’s official life,it can help us understand his’ s political stand.Afer this,we’ll discuss his’ s academic orientation and communication network,in order to see Liu Zai’s attitude to life.In the end,we’ll distinguish the rumor of Liu Zai as “Liumengjiang”.In chapter two,the focus is on the editions of “Man Tang Collected Works”,we’ll sort out the relationship between “Man Tang Collected Works”,”The Former Part of Man Tang Mr.Liu Collected Works”and “Man Tang Mr.Liu Collected Works”.The object of study in chapter three is Liu Zai’s poems,we’ll split it into four parts according to its themes.Form this,we can know the main content and conclude the artistic characteristics of Liu Zai’s poems.In chapter four,we’ll study the proses of Liu Zai,we’ll select some styles which have a large number and elegant language as the representatives,and then find the characteristic expression and writing skills from it.In the appendix,we collect some works of Liu Zai from other ancient books,it can cover the shortage of “Man Tang Collected Works”.The value of Liu Zai’s literary works has long been shielded.The study of Liu Zai’s poems and proses not only has the meaning as a case study,but also presents a more complete view of the literary creation in late Southern Song Dynasty,and helps us realize the literary achievement clearer.
