Along with the transformation of modern Chinese society,a new group emerged in the colleges and universities during the Republic of China,that is female faculty members,and this group contains faculty who are engaged in history education.Different from the previous teachers,they have received professional education in history subjects.According to their educational background,female faculty can be divided into three groups,who have received local education,or have studied abroad,or foreign teachers who come to China.Because they have different family backgrounds and educational experiences,so they have different ways to enter colleges and universities.Some of them have excellent grades,some were recommended by their relatives and friends,some were required to return to school for teaching because of funding regulations,and some rely on their missionary status.Different types of universities have different requirements and different acceptances for female teachers,and compared with other colleges,many female teachers teach at church universities.Teachers' job is teaching.If we want to study female history teachers,we must start with their teaching work.This involves the class schedule of female teachers.The curriculum tasks reflect their role in the history department.And we can explore their educational thoughts from their views and ideas on historical teaching issues.Secondly,we can analyze their teaching methods and ideas from their performances in the classroom,teaching lectures and textbooks.Finally,through their teaching achievements and the evaluation from students and academic colleagues,we can know their role in the field of historical education.They are not only engaged in teaching,but also played an important role in the field of historical research.In the field of research,they keep up with the trends of academic,and to expand the breadth and depth of the field of historiography,and to promote the development of historical research methods in a multidisciplinary direction.They wrote academic books,translated foreign books,organized historical data and done other historical activities,expressed their historical ideas.In addition,they have established academic relations and deep friendship by joining societies and associations,participating in academic activities,or writing letters with their academic friends.They have become an integral part of the circle of history.
