Studies On Li Xin And His Chinese Marxist Historiography

Since Marxism was introduced into China,Marxist historical materialist historiography has increasingly become a prominent study in China.Guo Moruo and Fan Wenlan as the first generation of Marxist historians began to study history under the guidance of correct theory and promoted Marxist historiography from "in the wild" to"orthodox".At the same time,a group of young Marxists began to grow rapidly following their academic orientation and their academic accomplishments.They are the second generation of Marxist historians in China,represented by Li Xin.Their academic history is closely related to the ups and downs of New China after founding for 60 years.Their academic ecology and scholars' moods are more complex and worthy being investigated.In addition,they took over and heightened "fiery species" of historical materialism that had been ignited by their predecessors,and illuminated the direction of development of the history of the 21st century.This undoubtedly has important practical significance and far-reaching reality for the study of Marxist history in the 21st century.Li Xin(1918-2004),as a famous Marxist historian in China,was known for the study of the history of modern China,the history of the Republic of China and the history of the Communist Party of China.The first half of Li Xin's life was a solider,not only participating in the school's anti-Japanese patriotic movement,but also joining the Communist Party of China to embark on the road of revolution.The latter half of his life was a scholar.In order to promote the education of the motherland,he resolutely gave up his office,and devoted himself to the work of education and Marxist historiography.Li Xin studied in the field of Chinese Marxist historiography for more than 50 years,and he always grasped great events as a craftsman.He not only organized many multi-volume book series,but also compiled many personal books and memoirs.His knowledge is profound,scholarship is rigorous,and influence is far-reaching.His contribution to the development of Chinese Marxist historiography is immense and worth studying.The year of 2018 is the 100th anniversary of Li Xin's birth.Analyzing and summarizing Li Xin's Marxist historiography objectively and practically is the best way to remember Li Xin.The introduction mainly explained the research status of Li Xin Marxist historiography in academic circles,discussed the reason for this article's research,explained the writing ideas and methods of this article,and showed the innovation and deficiencies of this article.The article includes the following five chapters:the first chapter describes the theoretical and practical basis of Li Xin's Marxist historiography research,analyzing the revolutionary practical activities,theoretical foundation,and academic communication related to the emergence of Li Xin-Marxist historiography.The second and third chapters mainly describe Li Xin's achievements in the history of the new-democratic revolution and the history of the Republic of China.Historians' achievements in historiography or historiography are the main carriers for contemporary or future generations to study historiography and they are an important measure of historiographical status.Li Xin had written many books in the field of Marxist historiography and made great achievements.He not only organized and compiled many volumes of the "General History of the Chinese New Democratic Revolution" "The Chronicle of the Chinese New Democratic Revolution" and "The History of the Republic of China".He also made some contributions to the history of the 1911 Revolution and his own research on the warlords.The fourth chapter summarizes Li Xin's Marxist theory of historiography,which is based on the analysis of his new history.Li Xin's views on the issue of the division of modern Chinese history have influenced many scholars and some are still used today.He also has his own position and viewpoint on the issue of the relationship between history and theory,the issue of the division of modern and modern Chinese history.These were analyzed in this chapter.The fifth chapter summarizes the main characteristics of Li Xin Marxist historiography.Historians all have their own methods of understanding historical and methodology of historical studies.As the main representative of the second generation of Marxist historians in China,Li Xin always adhered to the guidance of historical materialism and sought truth from facts on the basis of focusing on the collection and arrangement of historical materials.He always maintained a modest and prudent attitude and had the courage to innovate.At the same time,Li Xin adhered to adopt the great collaboration methods to carry out historiography study.The conclusion summarizes position and function of Li Xin's Marxist historiography on the Chinese History in the 20th Century.The author believes that Li Xin was a pioneer in the research on the history of the Republic of China,a pioneer in the study on the history of the Chinese revolution,and an important promoter of the history of the Communist Party of China.The use of text analysis,the combination of theory and practice and historical analysis was applied in this article.Deep analysis with multiple angles of Li Xin and Marxist historiography can not only help us further explore Li Xin's rich Marxist historiography system,but also be helpful to summarize and reflect on China's Marxist historiography since its establishment in 1949.It can also serve as great references for current and future Chinese Marxist historiography.
