Late 19 th century,due to the strong invasion of Western powers,China has faced unprecedented challenges due to the strong invasion of Western powers.Political instability and social turmoil have made the issue of national survival the theme of the times.In this context,Chinese traditional ideas and culture have been greatly impacted,and then the conflicts and integration of Chinese and Western academics have taken place.In the period of the Republic of China,the historiography has gradually shaken off the paradox of traditional scholarship,which has begun the exploration and attempt of the modern academic scientific and institutionalization path.At the same time,the appearance and prosperity of modern newspapers and periodicals provided an important academic space for the construction of a new era of history.As a text field,it plays an important role in the development of historiography,which not only promotes the progress and development of historiography,but also witnesses the transformation and change of historiography in the Republic of China.Historical Annual,a journal of the Yanjing university historical society,is one of the earliest professional historical periodicals founded in the Republic of China.From 1929 to 1940,in the process of publication for more than ten years.It is not only one of the earliest professional historical periodicals,but also shows and makes various academic functions and contributions during the development of historiography in the Republic of China,which has moreimportant academic research value.On the basis of sorting out and mastering the previous research achievements in related fields of Republic of China and historical journals,this paper takes the development of Republic of China's history as the background,and makes a case study of historical annual report from the perspectives of historical construction,personnel training,academic communication and communication,etc.It examines its academic achievements in the historical environment of the Republic of China and the academic characteristics presented,and then probes into the specific conditions formed in the process of constructing the academic community of historical nature.By investigating the Historical Annual report from the general background of the Republic of China's historiography,we can reproduce the historical development process of the journal,and at the same time,we can also show the development orientation and social function of the professional historical periodicals of the Republic of China,as well as the development of the reform of the modern history of the Republic of China.
