The Frescoes And Painted Sculptures Of Jin Dynasty Temples In Shanxi Province

Both Amitabha hall of Chongfu temple in Shuozhou and Manjusri hall of Yanshan temple in Fanshi were built in Jin dynasty.Frescoes and painted sculptures of Amitabha hall and Manjusri hall are rare frescoes and painted sculptures of Jin dynasty temples being well-preserved.They are worth high value in arts and history and culture.Their age of construction(1143 and 1167)was only 24 years apart.But there are many differences in subject content,composition of a picture,drawing technique between the frescoes of two halls and character modeling.They also have many differences in the style of painted sculptures.Therefore,It will provide quite valuable reference for studying on artistic style of Jin dynasty frescoes and painted sculptures and their status and role in the history of Chinese Buddhist art that comprehensive interpretation andcomparative analysis between the artistic style of frescoes and painted sculptures of these two halls.It will provide quite valuable reference for studying on cultural,artistic,economic and social development of Jin dynasty as well.
