In the 21st century, under the background of Chinese culture going-out,translating literature of ethnic minorities into English becomes hot.The Mongolian epic of Jangar is one of the three great Chinese minority epics.Collecting, publishing and studying Jangar is an important topic of the international Mongolian studies, but English translations of Jangar have not attracted much attention until now. There will be of great academic value to study them.Based on three English translations(Wu Yangcai’s,Pan Zhongming’s and Liu Lan’s),this thesis explores different features of three English translations on the lexical, syntactic and textual level.First,it analyzes formal and non-formal markers of source texts,to grasp the overall style and elements beyond the text. Then it applies Style Translation theory to compare formal markers in the translated texts,to make a conclusion on different stylistic features of translations, and on strategies and methods adopted in translations. It is found that three English translations are significantly distinctive from the perspective of Style Translation.Wu Yangcai frequently adopts corresponding in translating lexical markers.Syntactically,he omits long Cliche, adjectives, verb be and repetition to recast textual rhythm.Pan Zhongming focuses on language communication, not rigidly adhering to the source text.He used to adopt decolouring and omission of lexical and syntactic markers, but his translation could represent original succinct textual style.Liu Lan’s translation is true to the original, with corresponding adopted on each level. The research conclusions are:(1)reproduction of source texts style in translated texts is influenced by translator’s strategies;(2)corresponding can ensure the adaptation of the TT style to ST style through imitation of the formal markers. It has the broadest and most practical significance in style translation;(3)for the insurmountable language and cultural barriers, decolouring can fulfill the fundamental communication;(4)recasting is the highest level of style transformation. It could recreate the stylistic meaning of the source language and compensate differences in expression.
