Since the beginning of the 21 st century, with the acceleration of world integration, the economy has been booming, and the society has been making continuous progress.Under such a condition,a new type of profession has emerged. This thesis takes the two speeches of President Xi Jinping on the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in 2018 as examples. From the perspective of English psychology, this thesis explores the use of various practical translation skills by interpreters under the guidance of the schema theory. As an important part of cognitive psychology, the schema theory has been gradually used in the study of interpretation. The schemata,as the abstracted background knowledge, are very important for understanding and people's memory. In Chinese-English interpretation, memory is essential for interpreters, but human memory remains limited after all.In the long-term practice of interpretation, many experienced interpreters have summed up some practical translation skills.By using these skills, interpreters can effectively reduce the pressure of the brain.Based on the schema theory, this thesis analyzes the effect of lingual schema, structure schema and content schema on interpreters' use of translation skills in Chinese-English interpretation.Through this study,it can be seen that in the process of interpretation,if the interpreters can make full use of various practical translation skills, such as “amplification, omission, conversion, unpacking” and some general syntactic skills on the basis of lingual schema, content schema, and structure schema, interpreters' memory level will be effectively improved, and the interpreters will work more efficiently.
