Report On The English-to-Chinese Translation Of Botanical Painting

This translation practice report is based on the translation of Botanical Painting,which was introduced by Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press In April 2018.In this report,typical translation cases will be presented under the guidance of the framework of “Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation” to discuss the translation methods of painting texts,especially botanical painting texts.Botanical Painting is a professional book of fine art whose content can be divided into two parts—introduction to painting techniques and showcases,among which the showcases are also aimed at instructing readers to further learn and digest the painting techniques mentioned in different chapters.This report will firstly review the process of translation practice,and then explore the translation methods of painting,especially the expository writing in the field of botanical painting.At present,research involved in this field is very limited and chaotic,as the industry lacks uniform standards,and few relevant references can be found and referred to.By analyzing and rethinking the translation methods adopted in the translation of Botanical Painting thoroughly,this report makes up for the vacancies in this field based on maximizing the accuracy and scientific nature of the translation.The translation methods and reflections mentioned in this report can provide detailed references for scholars who are keen to have a further study in this field in future.
