In recent years,a large number of experimental research results of domestic and foreign scholars have shown that the application of topic-based teaching in English teaching can help stimulate students' interest in learning,improve students' comprehensive language use ability,and cultivate students' independent learning ability.This study applies topic-based teaching to the English review class in Grade Nine,trying to solve the current situation of low review efficiency and low interest in English review of Grade Nine,and proposes practical teaching strategies and suggestions about improving students' comprehensive language skills and self-learning skills.Based on the theory of constructivism and content-based instruction,this study designs topic-based English teaching.A one-semester teaching experiment was conducted in two parallel classes in Grade Nine to test the role of topic-based teaching in the English review class in improving the English ability of junior high school students.Through tests,assignments and interviews,this study validates the following research hypotheses:(1)Topic-based teaching applied to the English review class in Grade Nine of junior high school can help students to improve their English level;(2)In the process of applying topic-based teaching to the ninth grade English review class,students' ability to integrate their knowledge of textbooks can be exercised and strengthened;(3)Topic-based teaching applied to the English review class in Grade Nine of junior high school can stimulate students' interest in reviewing English.The results show that:(1)The English review class in Grade Nine with topic-based teaching has changed the role of teachers and students,embodying the student-centered educational concept,it can effectively help students improve their English language proficiency;(2)This kind of review class is conducive to fully tapping the potential of students and motivating students to learn actively.Student''ability to integrate their knowledge of textbooks can be exercised and strengthened.(3)In such a review process,students can fully engage in group discussions and other activities.Students review in a relaxed and enjoyable learning atmosphere.This will stimulate students' interest in English review.Therefore,the author suggests that junior high school English teachers should understand and master topic-based teaching,not only in topic-based teaching in the English review class of Grade Nine,but also in the module teaching and module knowledge review in other grades.While stimulating students' interest in English review,the teaching atmosphere of the review class will be improved,so that teachers can apply it flexibly to the future teaching process and improve students' comprehensive language use ability.
