Meta-cognitive strategy is a learning strategy which involves the learning process of self-planing,self-monitoring and self-evaluating.However there are few learning strategy used in the vocabulary learning due to the backward of economic and educational development.This study tries to explore the effectiveness of meta-cognitive strategy(plan strategy,monitoring strategy and evaluating strategy)on English vocabulary learning taking the Mongolian students in Hulubuir College for an example.Teacher will introduce the frequency vocabulary strategies to students,explain the specific content of the Meta-cognitive strategy in detail and cultivate the consciousness of using this strategy.The application of plan strategy:students in experimental classes will choose the most suitable learning strategy under the teacher's scientific instruction.The application of monitoring strategy:students start to learn basing on the plans they have set up and they are committed to achieving the goals in the plan.During the process,students can judge whether they can achieve their goals and whether they need to change their plans.The application of evaluation strategy:students are supposed to monitor each other and review vocabulary learning effects and adjust the learning strategy so as to gain the best vocabulary learning effect.The research indicates that the application of meta-cognitive strategy is effective in English vocabulary learning.The strategy has a positi-ve impact on the cultivating the consciousness of students,self learning ability.At the same time,the improvement of vocabulary level will also promote the improvement of English ability overall.
