| At present,in the background of economic and information globalization,English study is increasingly important.It is extremely important to study English vocabulary if one wants to study English well.However,vocabulary is a big problem for the junior high school students.Meanwhile,the size of vocabulary has a profound influence on the English study.As long as paying more attention to it,we can solve the problem of "time-consuming and inefficient" in teaching English.According to the New Curriculum Standard,junior high school students with a vocabulary goal of five levels to learn should be able to use 1500-1600 words and 200-300 idioms at least.However,most students know little about vocabulary learning strategies and use more traditional methods in vocabulary study.But,if they have the ability to use more efficient vocabulary learning strategies,they can adjust their learning strategies timely while studying vocabulary.And they can grasp a plenty of vocabularies with little time.Otherwise,having read so many literature,the author finds there are more vocabulary learning strategies studies for adults than for junior high students.The thesis takes 176 of the eighth grade students of the No.Four Middle School of Yi Cheng District,Zhumadian,Henan Province as the subjects.It studies junior high school students’ English vocabulary learning strategies through 176 questionnaires and interviews to 20 students.The research results show that Junior high school students generally have a low level of English vocabulary learning strategies.The survey finds that junior high school students choose a variety of strategies in the learning process,which are generally classified into three categories:cognitive strategies,metacognitive strategies and social emotional strategies.Most of them choose to use a simpler strategy,such as repetition,word list reciting In short,the use level of vocabulary learning strategies for junior high school students is not high overall.According to the analysis and discussion of the above survey results,it is found that the High-Grade students use more vocabulary learning strategies than the students with learning difficulties,and the effect is better.High-achieving students can actively use various vocabulary learning strategies.Students with learning difficulties are more passive and use a single vocabulary memory strategy.Besides,it also found that a plenty of students insist that the best way to remember words is to repeat as much as they can.Meanwhile,most students incline to use simple cognitive strategies.Most students do not like to use metacognitive strategies and social emotional strategies. |
