A Study On The Moral Responsibility Consciousness Of The Xihu Er Ji

The xihu er ji is a short stories collection,which has a total of thirty-four volumes.The author of the xihu er ji is Zhou Qingyuan,whose real name is Ji,home town is Wu Lin,date of birth and death is unknown.Most of the stories used Hangzhou related historical figures as the theme and described the scenery of West Lake,and also reflected author's political passion and personal resentment.The novel has obvious preach phenomenon,which reflects the utilitarian purpose of the novel.There are little information about the author Zhou Qingyuan,and we can only know roughly from the preface written by Huhaishi that the author was frustrated,so he called in the novel,which can be considered that Zhou Qingyuan assumed the moral responsibility of society as a Confucian scholar.This paper mainly studies the moral responsibility consciousness of the xihu er ji,in addition to the introduction and conclusion,it is divided into four chapters.The first chapter explores the origin of the moral responsibility consciousness in the novel.Starting from the background of ideological and cultural characteristics and development course and style of the novel itself,and explores the impact of the writing for discontentment theory on the moral responsibility consciousness in the novel according to the internal law and the aurhor's experience.It include a brief introduction to the xihu er ji and author's introduction,the definition of the moral responsibility consciousness and the moral responsibility consciousness in the xihu er ji.The second chapter summarizes the main content of the moral responsibility consciousness in the xihu er ji.Throughout the whole,it is divided into control desires,punish evil-doers and encourage people to do good,salvation and other aspects.Among them was the praise of the true nature,acquiescence of living in seclusion,and praise of social morality behavior in the whorehouse.The third chapter summarize the expression of moral responsibility consciousness in the novel.The content of the novel is complex,because of the responsibility of moral exhortation,the writing techniques tend to be popular,interesting and persuasive.By the means of discussion,prefaces,poetry and other ways to convey the author's ideas of exhortation.This paper analyzed the novel by the means like close reading,induction analysis,etc.Based on the analysis,we believe that the xihu er ji is not only one of the novels tells the stories of the West Lake,it is also a "moral responsibility novel " with "moral heroism" as the theme.
