The Edo Chonin Art Research In The Vision Of Communication Studies

The Edo period in modern Japan is an important period of historical transformation.The feudal society began to show signs of disintegration.The shogunate rule faltered,capitalism began to sprout,and the Chonin hierarchy,which was originally located at the bottom of the society,gained a lot of wealth,and at the same time it also began to fight for political and cultural discourse rights for themselves.The colorful art created by Chonin,in this way can also be said as an early type of mass culture which was born in Eastern society.This distinctive and diverse art which was born during the Edo period in a complex social context also produced a significant degree of counteraction to the society at that time.Ukiyo-zoushi,Ukiyo-e,Neimori,Kabuki,etc.are all of a long history and are still in circulation today.All of them are inseparable from the cultural temperament of the Yamato people today.This article takes the Chonin Art as the research object,placing the dissemination of the Chonin Art under the social background of the Edo period.From the four aspects of the subject,the audience,the media,and the effect to study the dissemination process of this art and external factors.Communication is a young and dynamic integrated discipline of rich content.It is a theoretical tool to help us understand various economical,political,and cultural phenomena in modern society.From the point of view of Communication,the form of the Chonin Art itself,the media in the process of dissemination,and the cultural system or political model of the Edo society have together built up a huge and complex “dissemination field”.Analyzing the Chonin Art from the perspective of Communication can provide a more in-depth understanding of the characteristics and laws of the communication activities in this specific historical period.From the standpoint of communication science,this article starts from the position of communication science,using the theory and method of Communication to study the development process of Chonin Art in the Edo period.It can provide a new perspective for the long history of the study of Chonin Art and will broaden new themes for the study of communication and the mass culture.
