Three overseas students from School of Chinese Students·School of Central Asia,Xi'an International Studies University participated in the shooting of “The Swan Gooses”: Bai Yongbo,Tungani, the one who “returns home”,Azizov, the “elder brother” among Tajik students, and Arsem,a Kirghiz “singer”.“The Swan Gooses”,starting with the theme of Central Asian scholarship, records the experiences of the three overseas students from Central Asia in Xi'an,which also mirrors the real life of overseas students in modern times and enables us to have a better understanding on cultural exchanges, religious belief, and individual pursuit. We come to realize the differences and similarities between different cultures based on the overseas students' knowledge of Chinese culture in practices, thus enhancing mutual understanding, eliminating cultural gaps and obstacles, and promoting equal and mutual communication. The extended theme of this project is to explore the cross-cultural communication in China-Central Asia documentaries. The exploration is carried out from four aspects concerning the problems encountered in the creation of this documentary. The four aspects are as follows: the way of storytelling is adopted under the narrative angles of omnipotent perspective;detail shots are employed to capture the innermost world of the characters;“hyper-reality” is achieved on the basis of authentic records;and the correspondency and characteristics of these two cultures are discovered to realize the cross-cultural communication of China-Central Asia documentary,to reduce cultural misunderstandings and barriers,to break the ice with affections,to draw hearts closer to hearts, and to achieve emotional resonance.
