This translation report mainly discusses and explores some useful methods in the translation of implied information in the original Academic Text—Oxford Handbooks of Political Science(Chapter 23 and Chapter 24)and how to express it with proper words,as well as analyzes it with the case. This translation report mainly studies the problems that appeared in the translation of the implied information of words and logical relationship in Academic Text.Owing to the big differences in cultural backgrounds and languages between the East and the West, the author finds that in the translation of the implied information of words and logical relationship, the adopting of literal translation alone can easily result in the information loss in the target text, leading to inconsistency with the writing style of the source text. Therefore,in the process of translation, the author paid attention to the differences between English and Chinese, and made ensure that the implied meaning and logical relationship are clearly reproduced in the Chinese language. In this regard, the author adopts a variety of compensation methods, such as extension, interpretation and amplification in an effort to stay with the context of the original text and accurately reproduce the meaning in the original text.Through this translation practice and report writing, the author accumulated a better knowledge of the academic text chosen, hoping that the translation methods summarized in this report will provide some reference to the relevant translation practice.
