| Dong Qichang used Zhao Mengfu as his surpassing object for his entire life.When commenting on Zhao,he frequently devalued Zhao’s writing to raise his own writing.But just comparing Dong Qichang’s selection of Zhao Mengfu to the object of comparison is enough to see the importance of Zhao Mengfu in Dong Qichang’s mind;the two are comparable,largely based on their status in their respective eras.They are highly influential in their respective eras,and they are also considered the peak of the study in the history of contemporary calligraphy.Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang’s development and innovation of the theory of the painting and calligraphy art as well as a large number of representative practical works left behind have created conditions for the subsequent exploration and research of the two artists.Most of the previous articles on the two comparative studies on calligraphy are focused on their retro and aesthetic thoughts.However,it is worth noting that Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang have their own theoretical or practical innovations in the use of ink and knots in calligraphy.There are few cases in which specific comparisons of their formal language theories and their use in practice have been made in the past.Therefore,this article is based on the discussion of their teachers,book styles,and ancient and comparative studies.Try to compare the formal language.It is hoped that by summarizing the theories and applications of their pens,inks,structures and layouts,they will summarize their inheritance and innovation of the formal language of calligraphy.From the same aspect,we summarize the laws and dialectical analysis of different places,so as to deepen the study of the two artists.At the same time,we hope that we can provide some reference value for the current study of calligraphy. |
