Teachers' teaching competency is the guarantee of students' potential cultivation,and the premise of teachers' professional development.Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the current situation of teachers' teaching competency in reality.Due to the broad research scope of teaching competency,the research scope of this thesis is set in: on the basis of Multiple Intelligences(MI for short)theory,conducts a research on high school English teachers' teaching competency from the perspective of students' intelligences development and utilization,attempting to investigate the current situation in Hebei province and propose corresponding countermeasures.In the theoretical research part,the thesis analyzes the domestic and foreign researches,and explores the significance of developing and utilizing students' intelligences.The thesis also discusses the new intelligence perspective of MI theory and its driving force in improving teaching level.The relationship between English teachers' teaching competency and students' intelligences development and utilization has also been explored.In the investigation part,quantitative(questionnaire)and qualitative(interview)research methods are adopted.The thesis also summarizes the requirements for high school English teachers to develop and utilize students' intelligences,which provides the main basis of the questionnaire survey.With the help of the unique perspective of MI theory and existing research achievements,the thesis analyzes English teachers' teaching competency,summarizes and reveals some problems found in the study,so as to arouse reflection.Through careful investigation and analysis,the study reveals that: high school English teachers' teaching competency reaches a high level as a whole,but there exist some problems in teaching reflection competency,cooperative learning organizing and managing competency,individualized teaching competency and multiple evaluations competency.In addition,teachers' teaching competency will be directly affected by school evaluation mechanism and training mechanism.In the conclusion part,from the view of students' intelligences development and utilization,some practical suggestions are put forward to improve teachers' teaching competency.Government should enhance MI training efforts and encourage expert guidance to advance English teachers' intelligence-developing competency;Schools should establish multiple evaluations mechanism and reasonable reward mechanism to motivate potential.Time guarantee should be provided and learning organizations should be established in order to create more opportunities for teachers to cooperate in the intelligence-developing process;Teachers should pay attention to teaching reflection,improve their teachingexpression competency and strengthen individualized teaching level.Besides,they should establish multiple evaluations view and conduct a deep study on the teaching material.The research will continue,as will English teachers' teaching competency.
