Vocabulary teaching is an important part of senior high school English reading class and it is an important basis for students to learn English.However,the author through research found that many English teachers pay attention to vocabulary and reading teaching but cannot teach vocabulary in reading class.This thesis is based on the context and the input theory,research on teaching vocabulary in senior high school English reading.This research is aimed at the teachers of three senior high schools in Siping city,through questionnaires and interviews to study the following three dimensions: vocabulary selection;vocabulary teaching content;vocabulary teaching methods in senior high school English reading class.After analyzing the data,the author found that there are the following discussion of vocabulary teaching in English reading class: firstly,in vocabulary selection,vocabulary teaching is not in accordance with the requires and teaching objective is not clear;secondly,in vocabulary teaching content,excessive vocabulary teaching content and input make students unable to grasp the key points;thirdly,in vocabulary teaching methods in English reading class,teachers support for vocabulary teaching in reading class but vocabulary teaching out of context,teachers lack proper teaching methods,vocabulary and reading teaching have less input.Then the author based on literature review and theoretical basis put forward some reasonable suggestions: teachers should be based on the curriculum and course content to design teaching objective,teachers should make students precise understanding and accurate use of vocabulary,teachers should be based on context in vocabulary teaching,teachers should take the thematic meaning as the core and increase the input of vocabulary and reading and enrich the teaching content.Through the study of vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class to provide theoretical basis and data analysis basis for improving teaching in the future.
