An Interpretation Of "Story Nature" Elements In Zhang Zhao’s Piano Narrative

"The Ballade" is a piano solo work created by Chinese composer Zhang Zhao in 2013,to commemorate the great Chinese composer Li Jiefu,it’s theme comes from the song""Eulogizing The Cowherd Named Er Xiao".The story of "Wang Erxiao" is very well known in China.The art works describing this story include literary creation and vocal music,and Zhang Zhao’s narrative is respecting the original(including words and songs).On the basis of this,in the form of a piano solo,we tell a story,convey a spirit,it has a strong "story nature".The author takes the "story nature" elements as the starting point.The first chapter defines the concept of "story nature" to be discussed in this article,explains the source of the story text and introduces the creative concept of Zhang Zhao;the second chapter points out that this is a piano narrative song with Chinese characteristics discusses its "story nature" from two aspects:genre and narrative method.The third chapter analyzes the creation of music and explores how composers can "tell stories" through composition techniques.Combining my own practice to explain how to interpret this piece of music.
