Ernst von Dohnanyi(1877-1960,hereinafter referred to as "Dohnanyi")is an outstanding figure in the Hungarian music scene, both in terms of music creation, performance skills and teaching level. They are all the best in Hungary. His musical career began at a very young age,and at the age of seven he went to Budapest to study music creation and piano performance, and was appreciated by many masters including Brahms. His performance was influenced by Liszt, and his creation was largely influenced by Brahms, but his creation still had a distinct Hungarian flavor. This paper is divided into three chapters to explore the Hungarian nationality in Dohnanyi piano works. The author elaborates from his growing environment and learning atmosphere, introduces the reasons for his creative style, and explains that Dohnanyi has made an extremely important contribution to the development of Hungarian music in terms of creation, performance and teaching. At the same time,it introduces the formation and change of Hungarian national music.Through the collection and summarization of the characteristics of Hungarian national music,it further explores and analyzes the Hungarian folk music elements contained in its piano works.Starting with the analysis of the music structure of Hungarian Rhapsody op.11 no.3,combined with the performance of Martin Roscoe,it explains the author's understanding of this work and how to apply the pedal to better show the performance of the first work, style.Different from other national music composers, the elements of national music in their works are derived from the processing of Hungarian folk music, not directly. The author made a second creation of the first work by drawing on the interpretation of others and adding his own understanding, and put forward his own views on performance. In the interpretation of Dohnanyi piano works,it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the writings of the works and the composers,so as to more accurately express the works.
