Xichang,a key town in southwestern Sichuan,is world-famous for its satellite launch center built in the 1970 s and its own advantages.After entering the twenty-first century,Xichang,as the prefecture capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture,has really been on fire again.As one of the sixth largest ethnic minorities in China,the Yi nationality has a unique and profound culture.The Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province,as the largest inhabited area of the Yi nationality in China,has the Torch Festival,which can represent the main culture of the whole Yi nationality.Xichang City,the prefecture capital of Xichang,with the help of the non-legacy protection movement which sprang up at the beginning of the new century,has endowed the Torch Festival with new folk-custom functions,promoted new artistic forms,and thus created the famous Oriental Carnival at home and abroad.It has achieved another characteristic of Xichang City besides relying on satellite launching center,which is a science and technology tourism and research tourism,namely,experiencing national culture and feeling folklore people.Tourist culture business card.This thesis tries to take Xichang City,capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture,as a field investigation point,and focus on the cultural changes of Torch Festival.It focuses on the cultural changes of traditional Torch Festival and modern Torch Festival of Yi Nationality,then explores the causes of their formation,and shows the current development status of Torch Festival of Yi Nationality,with a view to expanding the research depth of Torch Festival of Yi Nationality to a certain extent and enriching its related research.Research results.The introduction mainly introduces the background and significance of this article,combs the basic status quo of the study of the Yi Torch Festival at home and abroad,and expounds the innovative nature of my humble opinion.The first chapter clarifies the historical course of the development of the Yi ethnic origin and the worship of the fire culture,and verifies the important role of the fire culture in the social history of the Yi people.The second chapter clarifies the Yi people’s use of the torch through the textual research and analysis of historical documents.The third chapter takes the non-heritage protection movement led by the state in the new century as a guide line,and examines the creative transformation and innovative development of local governments after the successful application of Torch Festival as a national non-heritage list.The exhibition project,how to better graft the traditional national culture and modern scientific and technological elements to inject new vitality into the national culture;Chapter IV focuses on the use of Boas and Barnett’s theory of cultural change,based on rich literature research and in-depth field investigation,in order to analyze and sort out the internal and external causes leading to the cultural change of Liangshan Yi Torch Festival;Chapter V focuses on the inheritance of Yi.Taking the Torch Festival as an example,this paper tries to analyze the reasons for its failure in applying for UNESCO’s human non-legacy list,and then puts forward some shallow personal opinions and suggestions on the future development of the Torch Festival.
