A Study Of Afghanistan's Image Created By Khaled Hosseini

Khaled Hosseini(1965-)is one of the most mavelous writers among the contemporary American ethnic literature.As an Afghan diasporic writer who has lived in the United States for a long time,he has been trying to introduce the historical culture and customs of Afghanistan to the United States and even western society for many years,intended to justify Afghan culture in the cultural dialogue between the east and the west.In the western society at that time,there was widespread misreading of the Afghan experience.It believed that the Afghan society was terrible,backward and barbaric.American society still had full of interest in Afghanistan.The English works of Hosseini arises at the historic moment.The hot sale of his works has made a great contribution to the transformation of Afghan image in the west.Today's oriental diasporic writers still facing such a problem:when facing the advanced culture,how to express themselves correctly and how to effectively spread their local culture without dropping into the dilemma.From the three novels:The Kite Runner,A Thousand Splendid Suns and the lasted one,And The Mountains Echoed,it can be seen that Hosseini has a complex diasporic experience and unique cultural communication strategy in the context of multi-cultural background.The topic of our study will start with the creative features of the Islamic diasporic writers,analyze the social and historical relations of Hosseini's spacial case,then try to study the image of Afghanistan under the large background which had existed in the west,explore the circuitous cultural communication strategy of Hosseini,and contact the specific historical and cultural background to analyze the unique images of Afghan women presented in his works,who enrich of the western"Buka Imagination",then derive the essential difference between the religious cover and the political cover,and evaluate its influence and significance in the United States as the contemporary works which self-consciously self-shaping Afghan image.In the process of shaping the "real Afghanistan" and promoting the cultural communication between America and Afghanistan,Hosseini has made a useful and fruitful exploration.
