The thesis is based on the author's translation of Must You Go a biography about Harold Pinter the winner of Nobel Prize of literature by British biographer Antonia Fraser. The biography in dairy form recorded writer's 33 years' life with her husband Harold Pinter. In the process of translation, the translator encountered many obstacles, including the translation of long sentences and cultural-loaded words as well as the translation on names of people and areas. However what interested me was the translation of English prepositions.English prepositions play an important role in English language. The use of preposition is flexible, and they have various functions.Chinese prepositions, however, are not as flexible as English prepositions. In considering of those differences,we must pay attention to the translation of English prepositions. From the view of Nida's functional equivalence theory, the author discussed how to translate the flexible English prepositions into Chinese prepositions, verbs, adjectives and omissions under the guide of five principles of functional equivalence theory,so as to improve the readability of this translated text and the expression of Chinese habit.
