In the late Warring States Period,Chu State scholar-bureaucrat Qu Yuan was noble and brilliant, but he was in troubled times and was in a treacherous position.Although he was faithful,he could not escape the slander from villains and was demoted and abandoned. He was also unknown to the noble, who followed the traitors but disbelieved the loyal courtiers, and couldn't be promoted no matter how much he expected. Finally he was too angry that threw himself into the river. When he was demoted and depressed,he wrote twenty-five articles such as Li Sao,which were later compiled by Liu Xiang into Chuci, read by the future generations' intellectuals. Then a number of works specially annotating and studying ChuCi produced,in which the image of Qu Yuan changed according to their different researchers.Among them, the representative ones are: Wang Yi's Chucizhangju in the Eastern Han Dynasty, which regards Qu Yuan as an image of a minister who "resents the monarch but patriotism ";Hong Xingzu's Chucibuzhu in the Southern Song Dynasty, which regards Qu Yuan as an image of a minister who "loves the monarch and patriotism ";Zhu Xi's Chucijizhu in the Southern Song Dynasty, which regards Qu Yuan as an image of a minister who "is loyal to the monarch and patriotism ".There are profound reasons for the change of QuYuan's image in different annotations: The characteristics of the times that the annotators live in are their background environment; The annotators' own experience makes them resonate with QuYuan's emotion when they are annotating; In addition, the ideological influence on annotators themselves and the academic atmosphere of the time cause the gradual change of QuYuan's image.
