After World War ?,with the advance of the medical technology, mortality rate of population has gradually decreased, and the population of the world, especially in the newly independent Third World countries, has grown rapidly. After the 1950s,a series of population issues have appeared in the Third World countries, which has also led to a chain reaction in western countries. The population issues in the Third World have quickly attracted the attention of policy makers of the United States,as the Cold War situation became increasingly severe. The United States began to draw the outline of world population assistance programs.During Johnson's administration, the U.S.government began to implement the World Population Control Policy,to provide assistance to the Third World countries in solving, population issues.Judging from the actual operation, the U.S.assistance to Indonesian "Family Planning"project is quite typical.During the implementation of the"Family Planning"of Indonesia,U.S.aid covers all aspects including the popularization of family planning knowledge, the establishment of medical and health centers, and the provision of professional skills training, etc.Although the implementation of the"Family Planning"project in Indonesia has inevitably conflicted with traditional concepts and encountered some obstacles, the"Family Planning"project has gradually covered the entire country and made a great achievement with the cooperation between U.S.aid agencies and BKKBN.To a certain extent, the"Family Planning"project is an effective measure for Indonesia to alleviate social conflicts and promote economic development. The assistance provided by the United States not only benefits the spread of family planning knowledge in Indonesia, but also helps advance modern medical services. On the other hand, during the Cold War,U.S.aid also provides conveniences for the United States to consolidate relations with Indonesia, control Indonesian resources and safeguard American security and interests in Southeast Asia.
