This translation report is based on the History of Chinese Medicine(Chapter I to IV),which is co-authored by Wang Jimin and Wu Liande. It was the first English book about the history of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)that was written by Chinese, and it was also the first time for Chinese to translate the history of TCM in a truly systematic and complete way. This book covers the origin, development, allusions, famous doctors, medical works and many other aspects of TCM.It has made a great influence since its publication.People are still using it as a reference for the standardization of TCM terminology. The translator hopes to further explore the translation methods and strategies of the history of TCM through the study of two main aspects, including translation difficulties and translation methods of chapter I to IV by searching information, and to combine the existing research results at home and abroad,so as to provide some references for the future translation of such texts. In addition, the English-Chinese version will be made to show the authors' ability and level of spreading TCM and Chinese culture to the world, and to study translation concepts and methods. In general, the highest purpose is not translation itself. The translator should act as a bridge for doctors and translators to study the history of TCM,and provide research convenience for scholars by making English-Chinese version with professional knowledge,so as to make contributions to the dissemination of national culture.
