Subtitle translation is one of the main reasons for the prevalence of western film and television works in China.Nowadays,many excellent domestic dramas are trying to go out.In addition to the quality of drama and marketing strategy,subtitle translation should also be concerned.Translation is defined as translator's adaption and selection in the translational eco-environment by Eco-translatology.It is believed that translators need to make switches in the linguistic,the cultural and the communicative dimensions.This thesis intends to study the translator's subjectivity of the subtitle translation in the Empresses in the Palace from the perspective of Eco-translatology.First,it explores the ecological environment of the subtitle translation in the Empresses in the Palace.Second,it analyzes how translator's subjectivity is manifested in the linguistic dimension,the cultural dimension and the communicative dimension.Major findings are stated as follows.Translators need to make adaption and selection to translational eco-environment,which is reflected on translators' switches in the linguistic dimension,the cultural dimension and the communicative dimension In the linguistic dimension,this thesis focuses on adding some syntactic constituents on the syntactic level such as subjects and verbs and coherence words on the discourse level to make the translation more coherent and logical.In the cultural dimension,culture-loaded words and idioms are discussed.Some translation strategies are adopted such as transliteration,addition,literal translation and free translation in this part.In the communicative dimension,translators use the method of generalization and omission to achieve communicative intention.
