The Exploration Of Flower And Bird Painting By Yu Zhizhen And Her Teacher And Friends,1949-1978

1949 to 1978 was a historical period of exploration and development between the establishment of the People's Republic of China and the Reform and Opening-up.During this period,China has explored and developed in various degrees in the political,economic,and cultural fields.As part of the cultural field,Flower and Bird Painting has also received common attention of the government and society.Since the establishment of PRC,policy guidance from the ideological level to the practical direction has been given to Flower and Bird Painting.Guided by Mao Zedong Literary Thought,and taking sketching and realism as the practical direction,Yu Zhizhen and his mentor Yu Feian,classmate Tian Shiguang,and friend Guo Weiqu,who were famous flower and bird painters of this period,have made outstanding contributions to the exploration of Flower and Bird Painting.Their exploration in different aspects covering from the feelings of creation,the way of painting,the enrichment of subject matter to the exploration of schemata,etc,which eventually formed the Flower and Bird Painting that conforms to the political and social development of that time,and also have practical significance to the exploration and development of Flower and Bird Painting for later scholars while dealing with the challenges of the times.
