A Report On Translation Of 2017 Report On The Development Of China's Fund Towns(An Excerpt) Into English Guided By Organon Model

The text translated is chosen from 2017 Report on the Development of China's Fund Towns published by the Zero2IPO Research Center.Although it is a financial report,due to the particularity of the object of study,the text combines information in the financial industry,regional policy and urban planning and many other areas.Difficulty rose in translation process,including the translation of financial terms,culture-loaded words,abbreviations,long and difficult sentences,etc.In this regard,the translator analyzes the language features of the original text and reads relevant literature to find out theories that can be followed in the translation process.The Organon Model raised by Karl Biihler focuses on the function of the language from outside to explain difTerent ways people use the language.In this regard,language functions are synonymous with language usage.Therefore,the analysis of the use of language in a certain context helps translators to better understand the function of the source text,and grasp the language features of the original text,thus adopting corresponding translation strategies.As a result,the theory can be applied to solve difficulties in translation at different levels.Based on the diversified problems during translation,this paper intends to choose Biihler's Organon Model as theoretical support,analyzing its guiding role in translation methods and techniques in vocabulary,syntax and discourse.Through research,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)The main function of the source text is representation,which is to reproduce the development status,trends and local policies of the domestic fund towns in 2017 through objective research and analysis.At the same time,the text's function also includes appeal,which is to signal the relevant decision makers to make certain behaviors and decisions by proposing development suggestions.(2)The translator should adopt the corresponding translation strategy according to the predetermined function of the source language text.The methods include omission,transformation,and literal translation at lexical level;splitting sentences,adjusting word order and voice transformation at syntactic level;adding supplementary connectives,omission and substitution at discourse level.
