Yin Hai-Kwong(1919-1969),a famous Chinese philosopher. In the1950 s,Yin Hai-kwong was a prophet of the scientific movement of history in Taiwan.Xu Guansan believes that Yin Hai-Kwong belongs to the Shi Jian School in his book "Ninety years of New Historiography".Yin Hai-Kwongis of great significance in the development of Chinese new historiography in the 20 th century.Yin Hai-Kwong has a rich academic experience and abundance of academic ideas.Apart from his personal efforts, his good academic accomplishment is inseparable from the forging of the social environment and the academic guidance of his good teacher Jin Yuelin.Yin Hai-Kwong has a good academic literacy and has worked in many fields throughout his life.In the 1950 s,Yin Hai-Kwong began to talk about Western Historiography. He began to pay attention to issues such as Western historiography and methods from the review and translation of historiography masterpiece and introduction to logical empirical work. This prompted his academic turn from politics to history.Yin Hai-Kwong's exploration in the field of history mainly includes two aspects:The first is to oppose the traditional speculative historical philosophy and propose the concept of Metahistory.Yin believes that although history has its independence in scientific classification, history is undoubtedly a part of science. In order to obtain the greatest objective of history, and to be in the ranks of precise scientific knowledge,we must resort to the interdisciplinary integration method, that is,on the one hand, the research methods of natural sciences and social sciences should be applied to historical studies,on the other hand, and the knowledge ofthe natural sciences and social science as the theoretical background of historical studies;and from the perspective of semantics, the language analysis of history, the analysis of historical evidence from the three levels of technology, logic and experience,to ensure the objectivity of history. The second is to actively explore the history of modern Chinese thought. From 1962 to 1969,Yin Hai-Kwong planned to complete the "Intellectual History of Modern China",which was actually written as "Some Notes on the Study of Intellectual History of Modern China" and "A Scheme of Research Concerning Neotraditionalism in Modern China ".These two texts clarify the problems that Yin's concern in the study of modern Chinese intellectual history and the dilemma of his intellectual history research, and have implications for the current study of modern Chinese intellectual history.Yin Hai-Kwong's historical influence also includes two aspects.First,it has played a positive role in promoting the transformation of Taiwan's historiography into scientific historiography;secondly, the historical influence of Xu Guansan and Lin Yusheng is particularly evident.Xu Guansan's "hypothesis","general rules","scholarship and concept" and "causal relationship in historiography" in his book "History and Historiography" are obviously influenced by Yin Hai-Kwong;Yin Hai-Kwong mainly influenced Lin Yusheng's academic choices. In short, the further study of Yin Hai-Kwong's historiography can not only enrich the overall cognition of Yin Hai-Kwong and his academic thoughts, but also promote and improve the study of Chinese historiography in the 20 th century.
