During the war of Greek independence,the American philhellene appeared in American society.They voluntary together and support for Greece with great sympathy.The appearance of American philhellenes,which indicated emotions from early American society to classical Greece,was not an accident during this period This emotion includes the thinking and application on ancient Greek city-states’history form political elite of early republican system,as well as the praise and recommendation on ancient Greek culture and art in the early American society.Moreover this sentiment contained sympathy of Americans to the moderm Greek region,and willing of their liberation from the occupation of the Ottoman empire.In addition,the emergence of American philhellenes also kept with the trend of times.The dominant influence is especially from the early nineteenth century.This phenomenon was not only caused by the American domestic factor after the second British-American war,but also the international situation after the Napoleonic war.American philhellenes showed distinguish characteristics during the activity from this period.The domestic newspaper media has become an important tool to spread propaganda.The participation of social members is extensive at the same time.A relatively complete system of aid groups has appeared.American philhellenes and their activities,aiding the revolution war within the Greek mainland,objectively promoted further spreading and flourish of the classical Greek culture within the American society.Their activities are also an important part of the world activities to aid Greece.The American philhellene and their actions sharply contrast with the American government who followed the isolationist foreign policy,reflecting the early modern American international relations and foreign policy in the United States.
