| The Greek independence movement was a major event in international politics in the 19 th century.Admittedly,compared with the ancient Greek civilization in the world unique lofty status in the history of civilization,the modern Greek relatively less visible,Greek independence movement is not the major events of modern world history,but if put it in nationalism under the tide of "nation building" sequence,can fully display its weight and meaning.After more than three hundred years of Ottoman Empire,Greece’s independence movement broke out in 1821,which naturally had its profound internal and external factors,including the power accumulation of the Greek nation for hundreds of years,and the constant involvement of foreign powers.This paper focuses on the relationship between the European powers and the Greek independence movement.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the paper is divided into three parts.First,the historical ties between Greece and the major European powers before the outbreak of the independence movement are explained.This paper describes the religious,historical and cultural relations between Russia and Greece,the geopolitical and geo-economic relations between Britain and Greece,and the relations between France and Greece due to colonial expansion and ideological and cultural factors.Secondly,while briefly describing the general process of the Greek independence movement,it further clarifies the role played by the European powers in each stage.Taking the landmark events in the Greek independence movement as the demarcation point,the whole process is divided into four stages,respectively expounding the relationship between the great powers and the direction of the Greek independence movement.Finally,it analyzes the influence of the Greek independence movement in many aspects.For the Ottoman Empire,the Greek independence movement was a watershed for its comprehensive reform and even the final move to Tanzmet.For the Balkan region,the successful independence of Greece opened the prelude of the Balkan comprehensive national liberation movement.For the relations between Greece and Turkey,the territorial disputes left over by the independence movement run through the history of the two countries in modern times.For the international relations in the Near East,the independence of Greece enabled the Western powers to reach directly into the hinterland of the Ottoman Empire.The "Eastern Question" was no longer a game between the Ottoman Empire and the West,but the "Eastern Question" in the context of "Europeanization" was only a question of how the Western powers could unilaterally carve up the Ottoman Empire. |
