This report is based on the practical project of English-Chinese translation.The source text is Days Without End.At present,there are no translated versions.The full text is more than 70,000 words,composed of 24 chapters.roughly divided into three parts,youth,military career,and seclusion.The excerpts from this translation practice are chapters 1 to 5 of resource text,about 15,000 words in English.This part mainly tells about the life of Thomas Mc Nulty and his friend John Cole in pub and army.It mainly involves the translation of long difficult sentences,supplemented blanks,lexical translation and scene description.This report consists of four parts.The first chapter introduces the text background,translation purpose and text analysis.The second part is the task process,which mainly introduces the pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation review.The third part is case analysis,which is the focus of this report.This part based on the problems translation practical,the translator choices several standards from the seven standards of discourse features(cohesion,coherence,informatility,intertextuality situationality and acceptability?intentionality),to explain the guiding role of discourse feature in the Translation Practice.In the fourth part,the author summarizes harvest,shortcomings in this translation practice.
