This practice report is based on the Exclusive Interview with Zhong Nanshan of Kevin Hours,which mainly focuses on the pandemic and Zhong Nanshan’s medical study experience.The mock interpreting is conducted in the way Chinese-English consecutive interpreting.From the perspective of Cohesion and Coherence theory,the interpreter made an in-depth analysis of the three aspects of cohesion and coherence in this mock interpreting.First,the lexical cohesion problem of the target language caused by repeated expressions in the source language;Second,the grammatical cohesion of the target language caused by redundant constituents and the lack of references in the source language;Third,the discourse coherence problem of the target language caused by the logical mess in the source language.At the same time,the interpreter also puts forward corresponding coping strategies,including reiteration to reach lexical cohesion,ellipsis and adding references to reach grammatical cohesion,adding logical expression and restructuring to reach discourse coherence.Through this practice report,the interpreter hopes to provide some strategies for cohesion and coherence of interpreting,so that the target language can be accepted by the audience,and provide relevant ideas for interpreting learners.In addition,the interpreter also found some limitations and offered some suggestions for future learners.
