| The material of translation report is excerpted from Nuclear Threats and Security Challenges,which belongs to an expository article of science and technology.Therefore,the translation task of this report is an English-Chinese translation for the article of science and technology.After referring to relevant literatures,the author finds that compared with other types of translation reports,the number of reports for science and technology is relatively small,and such reports using Chinese native translation theories as the guidance is even less.Therefore,in this translation report,the author selects Eco-Translatology as the guiding theory,and attempts to explore the sufficiency and necessity of its guidance in English-Chinese translation for articles of science and technology.In the selection of translation theories,the author mainly uses literature review and comparative research methods.Through the horizontal and vertical comparison between Chinese and western translation theories,and applied them in this English-Chinese translation practice,the author finds that the major western translation theories in modern times are more suitable for guiding the inter-translation between western languages,while the Chinese translation theories in modern times have relatively little systematic research on the translation for articles of science and technology.By contrast,therefore the author believes that Eco-Translatology has a relatively universal guiding significance and is more suitable to guide this time’s English-Chinese translation for article of science and technology.The author selects twenty representative examples to demonstrate from three perspectives of vocabulary,sentence and paragraph,including selection for word meaning,term translation,making-up for meaning,translation of complex sentence and adjustment of word order etc.Under the guidance of Eco-Translatology,the author adheres to the principles of multi-dimensional “selective adaptation” and “adaptive selection”,so as to achieve the maximum balance of the “three dimensional transplantations” of the translation,thus completing the translation task with high quality,and the post-translation review is in good condition,that is,“Holistic Degree of Adaptation and Selection” is high.So,it is concluded that Eco-Translatology can guide the English-Chinese translation for articles of science and technology well. |
